Yesterday at 2.47pm, a power cut affected several districts of Luxembourg City: Weimerskirch, Pfaffenthal, Grund, Kirchberg (Pont Rouge-Coque), Neudorf and Cents.

The incident was caused by a technical problem at the Kirchberg B substation, following a short-circuit caused by a faulty coupling switch, resulting in a major release of smoke. Creos teams intervened quickly, restoring the power supply in around 33 minutes. The CGDIS also intervened to ensure safety on site.

For three major customers affected, a temporary solution was put in place shortly after 5pm, enabling a return to normal.
