Protecting the environment is a top priority for Creos. The company strives to minimise the impact of its installations on people and nature. For many years, Creos has been committed to burying as many of its power lines as possible. Today, 95% of the low-voltage lines are underground, as are 75% of the medium-voltage lines, i.e. more than 83% of the electricity network, an achievement that puts Luxembourg at the top of the European league.
The new generation of high-voltage substations blends harmoniously into urban and rural landscapes. More compact than outdoor substations, GIS (Gas Insulated Substations) all benefit from an ecological architectural concept and guarantee greater reliability in bad weather. Medium- and low-voltage substations in towns and cities are integrated directly into a building in the form of shielded substations.
Creos is committed to reducing network incidents and the resulting power cuts to an absolute minimum. In terms of security of supply, the SAIDI regulated indicator (average duration of interruptions per year for each customer served) is 15 minutes in 2022. This figure places Creos among the best network operators in Europe. Live working has become an essential activity to meet the needs of industry, SMEs and private individuals. It is one of the ways of optimising the operation of the network and avoiding inconvenient breakdowns for customers. Today, many interventions on electrical installations are carried out using this method, known as TST. Employee training is an essential pillar of human resources management. Skills development and safety are of paramount importance.
Creos' sponsorship and partnership strategy focuses on supporting educational and scientific projects, young talent in sport, as well as social and humanitarian activities. For many years, the company has made year-end donations to community associations. By acting responsibly, Creos continues to create value for its employees, the Group and the community in Luxembourg and the Greater Region, thereby contributing to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.
